Hippos At Your Backyard

It's rare to see an adult hippopotamus together with its very small calf, out of the water in the middle of the day. The hippos have a very sensitive skin, so they normally avoid the sunshine, to stay immersed into shallow waters. The hippo baby is so cute, and he doesn't leave the mother for a second, as she offers the best defense towards the many possible predators.
In the night, the hippos come up from the lake to graze outside the main land. As the stars get brighter in the night, you can hear the munching getting closer to the deck in the back of the Cabana. The moment is very exciting.

Papyrus Gonolek

The Papyrus Gonolek is a small colorful bird, about 19cm long with a golden-yellow crown, a narrow white wing bar, and orange-red underparts. It is a very sensitive bird to its habitat; she occupies only and only particular habitats that meet her selection criterion!

The bird has specialized habitat requirements, being restricted to papyrus swamps.
Papyrus Gonolek is not yet a threatened species but she has become rare due to habitat loss and pollution.
