Job Objective

Responsible for managing the Lodge on a day to day basis assure optimum performance and continual improvement in the Five Key result areas i.e. Guest Service, employees, sales/marketing, property appearance and Profit/Financial Control. The overall success of the lodge, ensuring guest satisfaction, assists the company in exceeding targeted sales revenue and profit and supervising all the lodge employees and departments.

Daily duties

Guest Satisfaction

      1.Demonstrate and promote 100% commitment to providing the best possible experience for our guests and employees.

      2.Greet, brief and register guests using the guest registration forms

      3.Resolve customer’s complaints by ensuring that all guest related issues are handled in a manner consistent with company goals and objectives.

     4.Be readily available and approachable to guests at all times

     5.Provide other relief or back- up duties as needed including front desk coverage, housekeeping, and other duties to ensure optimum operation of the property.


Employee Management


  1. 1.Communicate all policies and procedures and monitor workers performance to ensure that the company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  2. 2.Ensure that all departments achieve and exceed the guests’ service expectations
  3. 3.Lead by example by demonstrating self-confidence, enthusiasm and energy at all times
  4. 4.Motivate and give direction to all employees
  5. 5.Adhere to all employment laws and regulations
  6. 6.Conduct regular meetings to provide various information including company communications, policy reviews, company goals and industry updates.
  7. 7.Ensure that orientations and training of new employees are thorough and timely done according to the company set standards.
  8. 8.Ensure that all employees related issues are resolved in a manner consistent with the company policies.
  9. 9.Conduct coaching/counselling sessions; performance evaluations; prepare performance improvement programs plans, disciplinary documentations and conduct terminations.

10. Continually carry out staff training programs for all departments and equip all the staff with the necessary skills

11. Mentor and develop all departmental heads by assigning new tasks and targets to them, evaluate their strength and weaknesses and offer continuous on job training.

12. Communicate all company goals and results to all employees and also ensure that departmental goals are set and achieved.

13. Schedule staff off days and recommend those who need to take off leave days

Property Appearance

  1. 1.Inspect and document all repairs needed, cleanliness of the property to ensure optimum upkeep, repair, room cleanliness and overall property appearance.
  2. 2.Protect and safeguard the company property and equipment from vandalism and misuse.
  3. 3.Coordinate repairs of company equipment, building renovations and repairs
  4. 4.Improve the Lodge Landscape by ensuring that the flower gardens are regularly watered and pruned.
  5. 5.Developing a camping site for over Landers by drawing a plan for a suitable place and facilities needed to make it operational.

Financial targets

  1. 1.Create alternative sources of income at the lodge in order to increase the company’s revenue.
  2. 2.Responsible for maximising revenue flow so as to exceed the budgeted revenue and profit targets
  3. 3.Increase Food and Beverage Sales by introducing new menu selling items, training the staff about suggestive selling and improve bar sales by recommending selling wines and cocktails.


  1. 1.Continually solicit more business for the lodge from tour drivers and return guests
  2. 2.Make sales calls to tour operators explaining the services offered at the Lodge and ask them for business.

Community Engagement

  1. 1.Liaise with the local community and the local council authorities so as to create a harmonious relationship with the lodge
  2. 2.Handle internal and external communication from management to the staff, local community and Local authorities in Liaison with the Operations manager.

Management Functions

  1. 1.Directly manage the lodge staff on daily basis, supervise a total of over 14 employees on the property. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination,
  2. 2.Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures.
  3. 3.Carry out responsibilities of interviewing, hiring, training of employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving

Monthly duties and responsibilities

  • Compile monthly reports about the activities and events in the month as well as employee concerns and submit them to management.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with all staff  to remind them about company policies, goals and targets
  • Supervise  monthly stock count  exercises in all departments and submit the reports to the Operations manager
  • Carry out employee appraisal programs and rewards so as to increase employee motivation.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by management from time to time


Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management

Minimum of three years related experience in a hotel or safari Lodge 

Language Skills
Ability to read and speak the English language; comprehend simple instructions and written correspondences, Ability to write simple correspondences, Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organisation.

 Ability to effectively communicate professionally with guests, associates, supervisors, and others as required in the optimum operation of the property.

Organisational and Time Skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Computer Skills
Basic knowledge of computer applications and ability to use emails

Reservations and Marketing Officer

Job Description:
Managing lodge reservations from tour operators and individual clients and marketing the lodge and restaurant services to all potential clients.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Replying clients inquiries through email or telephone
  • Create and maintain reservations records, booking charts , clients information, and client feedback
  • Promptly process any cancellations or modifications to clients bookings and give them feedback
  • Visit clients office premises for business, marketing new company products, special discounts and courtesy calls
  • Marketing the company  products and services to existing, new and potential clients
  • Communicate to the Lodge manager about new bookings for the month and updating existing bookings
  • Providing quotations for the services and products to the clients
  • Prepare monthly reports about bookings and other visitor information
  • Provide visitor feedback, complaints and compliments report to management
  • Participate in marketing activities of the company
  • Follow up on tentative bookings so as to keep clients informed about the status of their tentative bookings
  • Promoting the company products on all social media forums and internet

Academic Requirements: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Tourism or a related hospitality degree.

Skills and qualification: Good interpersonal skills, Good writing skills, Excellent Computer skills, Customer Care skills, Proficiency in English, Excellent organization and planning skills, Self-motivated, driven to deliver, proactive and flexible, Attention to detail and quality, guest oriented mind-set

Experience: Minimum of one year’s experience in reservations and marketing, knowledge in tourism related products will be an added advantage.
